Recent Work - Work for Social Enterprise East of England

March 2009 was a busy time for The Guild as we completed three pieces of work for Social Enterprise East of England's (SEEE) 'Information, Networking and Influence Programme', funded by Capacitybuilders.

SEEE wanted to find out 'what we already know' about social enterprise in the East of England, so we prepared a comprehensive literature review of research and mapping about and from the region. We would like to extend particular thanks to all of those who discussed and sent us copies of their own research to inform this literature review.

The second piece of work for SEEE involved writing a plain English booklet to lay bare the current debate about social impact measurement in a way that is accessible to all. Social impact measurement is the process of trying to provide evidence that your organisation - whether it is a social enterprise, voluntary or community organisation or traditional business - is doing something that provides a real and tangible benefit to other people or the environment. The booklet particularly focuses on whether reporting on social impact measurement can have an influence on whether organisations and people buy from social enterprises.

Thirdly, The Guild completed the second update of the social enterprise guide to finance that was previously prepared for EEDA in 2004 and 2006. This new update brings this finance guide up to date and sets out a clear table of funding and finance organisations and initiatives - who, what and how.
