Big Lottery Awards for All success!

The consultation requirements to set up the Network of Norfolk Day Centres has received funding support from the Big Lottery.

This is a really great result following over 18 months of work by the Day Centres and our team to establish a really important independent resource.

We can now undertake a formal consultation amongst the 54+ Day Centres operating across Norfolk in order to establish a Network that will help Day Centre users to be more active in their communities and to work together to address the needs of older people.

All the Day Centres are run by voluntary management committees and some have part-time paid staff, but all use the work of volunteers to provide services.  The majority of the voluntary help comes from the older people themselves.

The Day Centres have worked hard to move from the standard budget awards supplied by statutory services to direct payments from their ‘customers’.  The opportunity to establish the Network will help to deliver cost-effective services, improve their capacity to supply services needed by the community and enhance their viability.

We will keep the post updated so you can see how the project is progressing.

Thanks Big Lottery

Social Impact Measurement Toolbox

We are delighted that the Northern Rock Foundation has purchased over 50 Toolkits for their small grant recipients.  This is to assist them in monitoring specific outcomes and to ensure they can see that their grants are making a difference.

Organisations have been delighted with their Toolbox

Many thanks.  It is like getting a late Christmas present- something to beat the early year blues! (Ian from Stockton)

The SIM Toolbox is proving a worthwhile, value for money investment for small organisations that need to begin or improve their evidence gathering.  Details are available here

Support for Pre-school Settings

The Norfolk Community Foundation has grant funded a pilot activity with pre-schools across the county.  We will be delivering urgently needed support, two group activities and a further five one-to-one development sessions with pre-schools that are facing significant problems with their governance, their sustainability and their business models.

We are working with the Early Years team to ensure this very limited service gets to where it is needed but please get in touch if you want more information.  Speak to keith@the-guild.co.uk

 News from our clients:

The Travelling Studio Company

We are a new company based in Norfolk and working throughout East Anglia, specialising in recording large music groups such as schools and choirs on location. We do CD design and duplication as part of our recording packages, and are also able to assist with arranging copyright licences where required.

To celebrate our recent launch we are offering the chance to win a full day’s recording at the music group’s place of choice, which will include mixing, CD design and duplication worth £1000. To enter, any member of the group can send us an email with ‘Recording Competition’ in the title, saying what their favourite song or piece of music is, and what makes it so special.

The 10 best entries will be placed in a prize-draw, with the winner to be announced in late Spring 2014. Entrants will be added to our email list and to be eligible please include the following information:

  • Your name
  • Your school, choir or band
  • Your email address
  • Your answer to the competition question

Kelsale-cum-Carlton Community Energy

The group have been successful in applying to the Co-operative Enterprise Hub www.cooperative.coop/enterprisehub/ for consultancy support for their village energy scheme.  They are intending to launch their community share issue as soon as the IPS (Community Benefit Society) is registered.

Keith will be working with them to ensure the structure and the share issue go forward without any problems!

Fast on Water

We are working with a group of enthusiasts to establish a museum in Lowestoft for British power boat circuit racing.  This is in the very early stages of development but we are very excited about the prospects and the opportunity to be involved with this from the beginning.
